Unfortunately the key is unique to each user. ZoneLabs is using this method to prevent unauthorized distribution of the software by requiring the key to be entered: 1. at their download website in order to download the new software. (only 3 tries per key!!) 2. after setup, else it will be running under a 30 day trial mode.
One more thing, the key also sets the expiry date for usage of the software. I bought 2 licenses and both of my co pies are set to expire on 1 Nov 2001. Post Comments |

Does that mean you can not use it after that date? If so, I don't think I want to upgrade.. . Post Comments |

Yep, reduced functionality after expiry date. Here is a snapshot of the new ZoneAlarm Pro (censored to prevent misuse of license key): http://www.chongwanhsing.per.sg/zapro26.jpg Post Comments |

I had to purchase a new license since my other was over a year old. I now have the new version also. I spoke to them and it will not reduce functionality after the period expires, it only di s-allows any further updates until you pay again. Sort of like 1 year of updates are included.. .. How much did you pay for your copy? For my case, they gave me a $10 discount off the normal price because I have previously used and registered the free version with them. So I bought 2 licenses of the pro version and I got another $10 discount on top of the $10 discount for each of the license. When compared with the the $39.95 retail price, I only paid $49. 95 for 2 licensed copies. Post Comments |
